At least seven people have reportedly been killed in Syria Thursday after a drone attack targeted a military academy graduation ceremony in Homs. "Seven dead and more than 20 regime officers wounded in a violent explosion in the area of the military academy in Homs, caused by an attack by drones during a graduation ceremony," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, according to the AFP. The source of the attack is unclear.

A drone attack on a military college in Syria's Homs province during a graduation ceremony has killed and wounded civilians and military personnel, according to Syrian officials. Drones laden with explosives targeted the ceremony on Thursday as it came to an end, Syria's military said in a statement. They accused fighters "backed by known international forces" for the attack. The statement did not specify the number of casualties but said some of the wounded were in critical condition, including women and children. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

And that potential is increasing, not decreasing," Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the cadets at the 2022 commencement ceremony in West Point, New York. "And right now, at this very moment, a fundamental change is happening in the very character of war. We are facing right now two global powers, China and Russia, each with significant military capabilities, and both who fully intend to change the current rules based order," Milley said.


Robots stand in for university students during graduation in Japan during the coronavirus pandemic

Colleges around the world have been forced to shut down due to the coronavirus, but a group of students in Japan are not letting the pandemic ruin their graduation. Using Newme telepresensence robots, students attending Business Breakthrough (BBT) University in Tokyo were able to walk across the stage and accept their diploma, all while self-isolating at home. The robots were dressed in a cap and gown and fitted with tablets on their heads, allowing students to show their face using Zoom. Students who attended the graduation remotely operated the robots in what is deemed the'world's first' online graduation ceremony. Four students virtually walked across the stage at the Hotel Grand Palace in Tokyo on March 28.

It has been more than two years in the making, but 13 new astronauts have finally joined NASA under the mission that will bring the first female to the moon -and some may be the first humans to step on Mars. The candidates, who have been training since 2017, participated in the first public graduation ceremony for astronauts on Friday at the American space Agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston. The group includes six women and seven men, two of them were Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronauts, and all were chosen from record-setting pool of more than 18,000 applicants. During the ceremony, each of the bright-eyed graduates were given a silver pin that symbolizes the Mercury 7 โ€“ NASA's first astronaut group that was selected in 1959. They will then be awarded a gold pin once they completed their first spaceflights.


School bomb threats: Minecraft gamer could be behind email hoax that caused evacuations across UK

A disgruntled Minecraft gamer is believed to be behind a bomb hoax email sent to more than 400 schools and colleges. Some students were evacuated from school and college buildings across the country on Monday after an email threatening to detonate a bomb if they refused to hand over cash was sent out. The email appeared to come from gaming network VeltPvP โ€“ a server which allows users to compete in the game Minecraft โ€“ but the US company said that the account had been "spoofed". Carson Kallen, the US firm's 17-year-old CEO, told the BBC he suspected the hoax emails had been sent by a disgruntled Minecraft player in a bid to damage VeltPvP's reputation. He said: "Everyone who plays it is between the ages of eight and 18 years old - it's all kids playing. "Every now and then we have a little rebel who will try to do something bad like this.
